Suburban Windy City USBC Association members:

The 2008 / 2009 bowling season appeared to come and go very quickly. With it many first time accomplishments took place by many SWC USBC members including, but not limited to many new high games and series, and many new honor scores. Our association is filled with many gifted and talented bowlers, and many of them added additional accomplishments to their already impressive resumes. Erin Salazar was the Illinois USBC WBA State Handicap singles champion. Our youth bowlers are also very impressive. Within our association we had the majority of the Lake Park High School boys bowling team, which won the Illinois State High School Association boys bowling championship. Frank Kmet received 2nd place in the Illinois Pepsi State Championship scratch division and Kyle Gorney finished 3rd. Manuel Fernandez finished first place in the boys 12 and over handicap division in the same tournament. Michael Prodzenski received 1st in the boys 11 and under handicap division, and Nick Zicha received 2nd place in the same division. Sara Tenyer won first place in the girls 11 and under handicap division. Three of these four divisions we hold the state champions in our association. . We also had a second place and a third place finish in the Marlene Kauffman Illinois State Team Championships. There is a great future from our youth bowlers.

This year hopes to even have more success stories. Our association offers many ways of enjoying and exercising the privileges of its membership. We have the following tournaments: SWC open tournament, SWC women’s tournament, SWC Twosome tournament, Pepsi youth championships, SWC youth team tournament, and new this year will be the SWC youth singles tournament which will be held in conjunction with the SWC youth team tournament. We have a Hall of Fame Dinner, and a Ted Geiersbach raffle fundraiser. We also recently had a fundraiser at the Schaumburg Flyers game. These two fundraisers support scholarship money that is given to six of our youth members. The game was good, the finish and weather were excellent, and the fireworks were fantastic. It seemed to be a very fun time by all who attended. Hopefully we will be doing it again next year. There is also a fundraiser for the Susan B. Coleman Breast Cancer Foundation. All of these are worthy causes, and all need your help.

With all the things that our association tries to accomplish please remember that we have only fifteen members on our association board of directors. These few dedicated individuals are servicing over 14,000 members. With this being said we are always looking for volunteers at our events. Please strongly consider helping make our events successful ones by being part of it, whether it is by participating or volunteering, or even better, both. Whatever time you can volunteer will be very appreciated. Please contact myself or our hard working and ever helpful association manager Dona Reinink in our association office or via email. If you need additional information or dates please refer to our website at www.swcbowl.com. Whether you are interested in a competitive environment, or a social and relaxing environment, SWC USBC is the easy choice for you to make.

Thanks again for your membership and I hope you have a memorable and rewarding year.
